How to Avoid Scam Movers This Winter (tip 5)

Find a moving companies in the Seattle area by calling the Chamber of Commerce

When it comes to knowing a companies reputation in the community, no one beats the local Chamber of Commerce.  Since they deal with companies day-in and day-out, they get a sense of how other businesses view the mover in question.  It is not always a fool-proof method of getting to know a mover, but you can normally find out:

  • how long a mover has been in the community
  • is the mover active in local events
  • does the mover participate in chamber events

These may seem like peripheral things to be asking about, but it gives you a sense of the mover that no other website or referral can show you.  If the mover cares about their local community - they will care about their reputation in that community.  They will bend over backwards to make sure their reputation remains pristine.  If the mover is not involved in their local chamber, they may or may not care about how their community perceives them. So getting to know your mover through the Chamber's eyes may tell you more than you think.
